Benjamín Reencarnado

Este, el primer post del año, lo vengo preparando hace como 3 meses. ¿Por qué? Porque nunca renunciaré a escribir sobre La Bestia... y porque más vale estar preparado.

Con el primero de año a cuestas, es difícil que vaya a tocar una compu; y ni hablar de postear algo coherente. El dos de enero suele ser el día más largo del año. Y teniendo en cuenta que se vino el verano... Ni sueñen que esté descansando. Bueno: un poco sí. Pero en realidad estoy laburando, construyendo mucho.

Vuelvo a mis orígenes. Dejo aquí el video (Youtube mediante) de "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", excelente primer simple del no menos excelente "A matter of life and death", decimocuarto álbum de la banda mas grande del universo... y zonas aledañas.

Remarcable trabajo de guitarras, una intro que eleva todos y cada uno de los pelos de los brazos, un ritmo demoledor y consistente, una letra rayana en la perfección, solos a la altura de la mejor historia del grupo... y un final memorable. Es la mejor canción -lejos- de todo el álbum, seguida de cerca por "The Legacy" y "Brighter than a thousand suns".

Este no es un disco conceptual, pero le falta poco; todos los temas giran en torno a la guerra y la religión. Temas recurrentes si los hay en el heavy, y más aún en los Maiden. Sin duda, un regreso de La Bestia a todo motor. Y más cercano a la convicción que al bolsillo.

Espero que disfruten esta canción. Y a los que les guste, los invito a seguir esperando el tan ansiado retorno de estos vejetes, que rondan los cincuentas pero que tocan como unos pendejos de 17 años. En diciembre (cuando escribí esto) ya estaba definida la segunda "pierna" del "Somewhere back in time tour" (según su sitio web), que llegará a Brasil y por primera vez a Perú, además de Venezuela, Chile y Colombia. Una pena que no vengan al Río de la Plata. Aunque... ¿quien dice? Puede ser un aliciente extra pensar en verlos en San Paulo. ¿O no?
